The meeting addressed strengthening the coordination between Parliament’s Education Committee and the ministry's special committee for legislative proposals.

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami and a cross-party group of MPs on 19 January went to Bardarash and Akre districts for meetings with local authorities, political parties and Parliament’s branch office, to look into the legal, administrative and services problems in the area.

The Relations Committee, Minister Safeen Dizayee and the KRG's representatives abroad met online to discuss the challenges in the representatives' work and how to strengthen Kurdistan's diplomatic position.

The Protection of Women's Rights Committee met with the National Democratic Institute; the Martyrs Committee and the Minister for Martyrs Affairs discussed the review of the list of former political prisoners as part of the reform process.

The meeting focused on the Interior Ministry's latest steps to implement the Reform Law and to reorganise the guards unit; the formation of a special force to prevent cross-border smuggling, and preparations for a retirement and pension bill for interior forces.

Committees raised prisoners' and detainees' problems and requests to the public prosecution service; and they reviewed a report by the KRG's representatives abroad about their responsibilities, activities and challenges.

The Culture Committee is trying to implement an agreement between Parliament, the KRG and civil society organisations on collaborative work to strengthen democracy and foster social stability. The Women's Rights Committee met with two organisations that carried out research on sexual harassment in the workplace. 

Committees scrutinized the KRG's changes to taxation, the use of local oil refineries for meeting local needs, discussed media legislation with the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate and drafting a bill on sports.     

Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami and several MPs on 11 January went to Soran and Rawanduz districts and held meetings with local authorities, political parties and Parliament’s branch office, to look into the legal, administrative and services problems in the area.
