In recent meetings, the relations committee discussed with Minister Reber Ahmad the smuggling of travelers through airports and visa-free travel. The religious affairs committee supported a proposal from the Kurdistan Union of Islamic Scholars to renovate religious schools. The culture committee will scrutinize spending of five million dollars allocated to Erbil governorate in 2014. The martyrs committee urged the Finance Ministry to pay tuition fees for children of families of martyrs and political prisoners. 

Parliament's Presidency, the Legislative Committee and the Shura Council agreed on the need for cooperation. Parliament’s Presidency asked the Shura Council to coordinate with the Kurdistan Parliament in general and the Legal Affairs Committee, in particular to address the challenges related to amending legislation.

The Deputy Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Hemin Hawrami on 21 October welcomed Ms. Antonella Caruso from the Los Angeles Institute for International Dialogue (LAMEDINA), a newly established NGO in the US. They discussed the rights and protection of Kurdistan's religious and ethnic communities, and recognition of the Yazidi genocide. 

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr Rewas Faiq on 21 October visited the Hawary Nishtiman (Nation’s Call) campaign in Erbil, which has been organized by civil society associations to raise donations for the refugees of Rojava, Western Kurdistan.

The Presidency of the Kurdistan Parliament announces the order of business for the sitting of Wednesday 23rd October at 11am - the fifth sitting of the autumn session of the first year of the Kurdistan Parliament’s fifth term.

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 21 October met with Korea’s Consul General in Kurdistan Region, Mr. Choi Kwang-jin. They discussed a Kurdistan Parliament delegation’s recent visit to the Korean National Assembly in Seoul, the military operations in Rojava, Western Kurdistan, and the grave concern for the civilians and refugees.

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 21 October met with the Kurdish Academy to congratulate their newly elected presidency board in Erbil. Speaker Faiq expressed her support for the Kurdish Academy’s new board, saying that the organization is an important centre for research on the Kurdish language and Parliament will do all it can to support it.

In recent meetings Kurdistan Parliament's committees worked on these bills (draft laws): Bill on patients' rights and responsibilities; bill on illegally taken or used land in municipalities; and a bill on adopting in the Kurdistan Region Iraq’s Law No. 9 of 2006 on the import and sale of petroleum products.  

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq, Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and Secretary Muna Kahveci on 20 October met with Member of the European Parliament Evin Incir, and Member of the Swedish Parliament Mr. Kadir Kasirga.

The Secretary of the Kurdistan Parliament Muna Kahveci on 17 October participated in a special conference on the system of having minimum quotas for women in certain institutions and organisations, such as the Kurdistan Parliament. The conference was organized by the NGO Open Think Tank, at Saad Abdullah Palace Conference Hall.
