They are resolutions or orders on the election of Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq Hussein; Parliament’s majority vote of confidence in the ninth KRG cabinet Prime Minister and ministers; the election of Reving Heruri as new chair of a committee; and the automatic relinquishment of Parliament membership for MPs that were appointed as ministers.

Parliament’s Presidency announces business for 1st August: Second reading of draft resolution on designating 3rd August as Yazidi Genocide Remembrance Day
The Presidency of the Kurdistan Parliament calls MPs to an extraordinary sitting on Thursday 1st August 2019, at 11am, and announces the order of business for this fifth term’s 2nd extraordinary sitting: Second reading of the draft resolution on designating 3rd August as the Yazidi Genocide Remembrance Day, per Articles 87, 88 and 89 of Parliament’s internal Rules of Procedure.
MPs and staff take training courses on minority and human rights, citizen participation, protocol
The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 29th July presented certificates to MPs and Parliament staff for completing a five-day training course on the European Convention on Human Rights, minority rights, citizen participation, and parliamentary protocol. Germany's Consul General in Erbil, Ms. Barbara Wolf, also awarded certificates to the participants.

Parliament's Education Committee will look at the Education Ministry’s recent decision to no longer grant permission for opening private schools and institutions. They will study the benefits and disadvantages of the decision. The Endowments and Religious Affairs Committee visited Mir Hazim Tahsin Beg to congratulate him on his recent selection as the new Prince of the Yazidis.
Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq meets KDP Political Bureau members
Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewas Faiq on 29th July welcomed members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Political Bureau, the party’s leadership body. Mr. Fazil Mirani, Secretary of the KDP PolitBureau, congratulated Dr. Faiq on her election as Speaker and expressed the KDP’s full support for the vital work carried out by Parliament and its Presidency.
Parliament committees and KRG ministers discuss draft resolution on designating 3rd August Yazidi Genocide remembrance day
Parliament’s Legislative and Martyrs’ Affairs Committees met with Minister Vala Fareed and Minister Abdullah Haj Mahmoud to discuss in detail the draft resolution on designating 3rd August as the annual day of remembrance of the Yazidi Genocide. MPs will vote on the draft resolution in a future Parliament sitting.
Health, Environment and Consumer Rights Committee meets Head of Environment Protection Authority
The Health, Environment and Consumer Rights Committee on 27th July met the Head of the KRG Environmental Protection and Improvement Authority, Dr. Hallo Askari, and discussed coordinating their work to protect Kurdistan's environment.
Parliament's Presidency congratulates new leader of the Yazidis, Mir Hazim Tahsin Beg, pledges to pass law on Yazidi Genocide
The Kurdistan Parliament congratulates the new Mir Hazim Tahsin Beg, and Yazidis in Kurdistan and all around the world. Parliament is working on the quick passage of a bill on the Genocide against our Yazidi brethren. We will also ask Iraq to become a party to the International Criminal Court, so that the Genocide against the Yazidis is officially recognized, the criminals are brought to justice and reparations are made to the survivors.
Summary of committees' recent meetings - 26th July 2019
The Health Committee met new Health Minister Dr. Saman Barzinji, and both agreed to work together to reform and improve healthcare. The Culture, Civil Society and Youth Committee met the Reform Institute for Development, a civil society organisation, which asked the committee to organize an annual meeting with civil society groups.
Martyrs' Affairs Committee makes statement on mass graves of Kurds found in Samawa, Southern Iraq
We call on the Iraqi government to compensate the families of the victims of the Anfal campaign, in accordance with the decision of the Iraqi Federal Court, and to form a joint committee of the relevant Iraqi and Kurdistan Region authorities to search for the remains of Kurdish victims and return them to their families.
