Per Resolution number 6 of 2020, Kurdistan Parliament’s Presidency announces the end of the spring term of the second year of the fifth term of Parliament on 31 July 2020. From 1 August 2020, Parliament will be in recess.

Parliament publishes quantitative assessment of committees’ performance over past seven months
The Kurdistan Parliament on 29 July published its quantitative assessment of all the Parliament committees’ performance so far this year. The quantitative assessment uses clear, measurable criteria. The two best performing were the Social Affairs and Protection of Human Rights Committee, and the Martyrs’ Affairs, Genocide and Political Prisoners Committee.

In their recent meetings, Parliament's committees looked into the death of Kamal Karim Hamadamin, an inmate in Erbil prison, met with the Integrity Commission, discussed education and higher education problems, and met with Kurdistan's potato farmers.

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq and Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami held video meetings with MPs from the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Kurdistan Region (APPG). They briefed the British MPs on the political, economic, and health situation in Kurdistan, as well as relations between Kurdistan and the Iraqi Federal Government.

Committee's recent meetings - 22 July 2020
Committees are working on the Kurdish Diaspora Bill and the final draft of the Bill on Patients' Rights and Duties. MPs want to look into the work of the KRG representations abroad. The Integrity Committee will prepare their assessment of the Integrity Commission's annual report.
