Charmo public University of Chamchamal and the Higher Education Committee discussed the benefits and drawbacks of implementing the Bologna Process. The Higher Education committee also decided to meet the ministry to look into Nur, Hadba and Kitab private universities in Kurdistani areas outside the KRG administrative area, which are not yet recognized by the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Kurdistan Parliament’s presidency convey condolences on passing of former MP, Mrs. Ahang Aref
The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewas Faiq and Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 6 October wrote to the family of Mrs. Ahang Aref, a former MP, to express their condolences on her passing. Mrs. Aref served in the Kurdistan Parliament’s Third Term, from 2009 to 2012.

Kurdistan Parliament's energy committee had a meeting to work on the bill to adopt Iraqi Law No. 9 of 2006 on the import and sale of petroleum products. The health committee met Erbil International Airport officials to discuss the problems with the process and quality control of importing medicines.

Parliament's committees this week met with Ibrahim Khalil customs and quality control officials; decided to submit a report to Parliament's Presidency on the problems in healthcare seen on fact-finding visits to Duhok, Koya and Erbil; met with workers' representatives of the Communist Party; and visited social care departments in Koya. They also pledged to seek help for families of Kurdish Syrian forces killed fighting alongside the Peshmerga in the war against ISIS.

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 2nd October welcomed Mr. Toby Fyfe, CEO of the Canadian independent NGO for improving governance, the Institute of Governance. Mr. Fyfe said that their institute is working to strengthen fiscal federalism and decentralisation, and support plans for a law on general loans in Iraq.
Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq meets Czech Foreign Ministry Head of Middle East, Mr. Petr Hladik
Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 2nd October welcomed the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Head of the Middle East Department, Mr. Petr Hladik, with the Czech Consul General to the Kurdistan Region. Dr. Faiq said that it is important for the Kurdistan Region that foreign countries have diplomatic offices and consulates here. “We thank all the countries that have consulates in Erbil, as their presence has great importance for us,” she added.
