The Kurdistan Parliament on 7 May held the second reading of a draft resolution to exceptionally extend the period that MPs can submit legislative proposals, due to the delay caused by the Coronavirus outbreak. They also voted on lifting the parliamentary immunity of four MPs who have been summoned by courts in various lawsuits.

At the first Parliament sitting since the Coronavirus lockdown, MPs held the first reading of a draft resolution on extending the period that MPs can submit legislative proposals. The KRG Education and Higher Education ministers answered questions about how they are addressing the fallout from the pandemic on the current academic year.

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq and Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 1 May conveyed their best wishes to workers in Kurdistan Region and around the world on International Labour Day, specially as they face economic hardship due to the Coronavirus containment measures. 

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 25 April conveyed her best wishes to the Kurdistan Students Union on their 44th anniversary.

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 28 April welcomed a delegation from the UN’s World Health Organization (WHO), headed by the Iraq Representative Dr. Adham Rashad Ismail. MPs of Parliament’s Health Committee also participated in the meeting.

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 27 April met with Jordan’s Consul General to Kurdistan Region, Dr. Haitham Abu Alfoul. Consul General Alfoul commended Kurdistan Region’s swift response to the Coronavirus outbreak and he hoped for a resolution to the outstanding issues with Iraq.

Kurdistan Parliament MPs, led by Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami, on 26 April met with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s delegation for negotiations with the Iraqi Federal Government. The negotiating team described the talks with Baghdad since late 2019 and Iraq's recent decision to completely halt Kurdistan's share of the budget. 

Kurdistan Parliament’s Speaker and Deputy Speaker on 24 April sent their best wishes to the Turkmen Reform Party on their 15th anniversary.

The Kurdistan Parliament on 24 April commemorated the 46th anniversary of the bombing of the town of Qaladze by the Iraqi Ba’ath regime in 1974.
