Committees' recent meetings - 23 May 2021

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 19 May spoke at a major conference in Erbil on drafting a constitution for the Kurdistan Region. She said that the Kurdistani people have the right to a constitution, and unity can be built around citizens' rights and demands in the constitution.

Secretary Muna Kahveci speaks on rights of ethnic and religious communities in a future Kurdistan Constitution

Kurdistan Parliament Secretary Muna Kahveci on 19 May spoke at a major conference on the idea of a Constitution for the Kurdistan Region, saying that while the rights of Kurdistan’s original communities are enshrined in law, a modern constitution would more fully determine their rights.

Parliament passes Law on Electricity Ministry

The Kurdistan Parliament on 18 May held a sitting presided over by the Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq, for first readings of several bills. MPs also passed the Law on the Ministry of Electricity in Kurdistan Region and approved Ms. Muni Yukhna Yaqu for the post of the Head of the Independent Human Rights Commission.

The Finance Committee met separately with the KRG minister of interior, Peshmerga and martyrs' affairs to question them about the KRG's second report on implementation of the Reform Law.
