MPs today, 1st August, debated for nearly three hours the draft resolution on designating 3rd August as Yazidi Genocide Remembrance Day, and which calls on the Iraqi government to make reparations to the survivors and victims’ families. MPs will vote on the resolution this Saturday 3rd August at 11am.

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq Hussein, Secretary Muna Kahveci and several MPs on 31st July paid their respects to the victims of the Barzani genocide committed 36 years ago. Speaker Faiq said, "We the three presidencies of the Kurdistan Region must use all measures to help the areas where the Anfal and other genocidal campaigns were committed."

The Culture, Civil Society and Youth Committee decides to hold a conference to discuss a bill on advertising, and hope to have the bill's first reading in the autumn session. The Pharmaceuticals Subcommittee met the Pharmacists Syndicate, discussed measures to improve medicines quality control and making amendments to Iraqi Law No. 40 of 1970.

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewas Faiq Hussein on 31st July welcomed Dr. Basheer Khalil Haddad, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament. Secretary Mrs. Muna Kahveci also met Dr. Haddad. Speaker Faiq said, “The Kurdistan Parliament closely observes Iraqi bills and legislation that directly relate to Kurdistan Region and wants the wishes and needs of Kurdistan Region to be considered.”
