Order of Business for sitting of 26 October 2021

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewaz Faiq calls MPs to a sitting on Tuesday 26th October 2021 at 11am, the fourth ordinary sitting of the autumn session of the third year of the fifth term of Parliament. The Presidency of Parliament announces the order of business of the sitting as follows:

Relations & Kurdish Diaspora Committee meet with Belgium’s House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee

Kurdistan Parliament’s Relations and Kurdish Diaspora Committee on 12 October thanked Belgium’s House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee for spearheading the Belgian Parliament’s recognition of the genocide against the Yazidis.

Peshmerga Committee meet with US and Netherlands consular officials

On 5 October Kurdistan Parliament’s Peshmerga Affairs Committee, led by the chair Reving Hirori (KDP), met with political affairs officials of the US Consulate General and the Netherlands Consulate General, to discuss Peshmerga reforms and the International Coalition's assistance.

Parliament’s Culture, Civil Society, Sports and Youth Committee on 27 September participated in the conference on ‘Youth’s Way Forward’, supported by USAID, the US Government’s international development agency.

14 September 2021 - Kurdistan Parliament’s Legislative Committee on their second working day in Paris met with Member of Parliament Mr. Jean-Christophe Lagarde, Deputy Chair of the French National Assembly’s Study Group on the Kurds.

MPs and advisers from Kurdistan Parliament’s Legislative Committee on 13 September in Paris met with members of France’s National Assembly, to exchange ideas and benefit from France’s legislative experience.

Parliament amends Law on Integrity Commission and two other laws, passes Law on Honours and Medals

The Kurdistan Parliament at the 7 September 2021 sitting voted on some changes to Parliament committee members, passed amendments to laws on the Integrity Commission, on Chambers of Commerce and Industry and on the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, with the latter two amendments aimed at changing the company registration process. They also passed the Law on Honours and Medals.

Committees' recent meetings - 9 September 2021

Committees asked Turkey's Consul General to help Kurdistan Region migrants deported from Turkey to Syria to return home, assessed the KRG's implementation of the 2020 Reform Law so far and pressed the KRG to speed up its implementation.
