Committees asked about the safety of diplomatic missions in Kurdistan Region; are asking the Peshmerga Ministry for clarification on implementing the Reform Law; and are discussing how to ensure that all bills promote gender equality.

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami and members of Parliament’s Health, Environment and Consumer Rights Committee on 25 February met with the KRG Health Minister Dr. Saman Barzinji, to follow up on the Ministry’s work, the Coronavirus situation and its implementation of legislation.

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami and members of Parliament’s Agriculture and Irrigation Committee on 23 February met with KRG Agriculture Minister Begard Talabani, to follow up on the Ministry’s work and on its implementation of laws in force.

Kurdistan Parliament’s Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 21 February led MPs in meetings with the independent Judicial Council, the Shura Council and the KRG Ministry of Justice.

The Agriculture Committee is drafting a bill to regulate the prices of fruit and vegetables; the Kurdistan Tourism Board asked the Tourism Committee to help harness the knowledge of tourism studies graduates.

Dr. Hawrami explained to Minister Pshtiwan Sadq that Parliament places great importance on strengthening religious coexistence, on the ministry's implementation of the Reform Law, cutting bureaucracy, comprehensive reform of administration and finance, and delegation of powers.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami and Minister Abdulla Haji Mahmood discussed the ministry’s implementation of the Reform Law and of the KRG ninth cabinet’s manifesto, and on serving the families of martyrs, Anfal victims and political prisoners.

MPs and the transport and communications minister discussed road traffic and internet services. Poultry farmers asked the Agriculture Committee to help end illegal poultry imports and restart sales of poultry with Baghdad. 

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 14 February together with standing committee MPs met with the Kurdistan Independent Human Rights Commission, headed by Mr. Zia Petros.

As part of a series of recent visits to institutions to monitor the government’s work, Kurdistan Parliament’s Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami on 14 February led MPs in a meeting with KRG Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Kwestan Muhammad and her colleagues at the ministry.
