Martyrs' Affairs Committee makes statement on mass graves of Kurds found in Samawa, Southern Iraq

We call on the Iraqi government to compensate the families of the victims of the Anfal campaign, in accordance with the decision of the Iraqi Federal Court, and to form a joint committee of the relevant Iraqi and Kurdistan Region authorities to search for the remains of Kurdish victims and return them to their families.

Summary of committees’ recent meetings - 25th July 2019

The Health, Environment and Consumer Rights Committee visits Dukan, Bazian and Chamchamal to see the environmental problems, pollution from factories and tourism, and waste disposal. The Agriculture and Irrigation Committee discussed the problem of Darashakran Refugee Camp, which hosts thousands of Syrian refugees, being housed on farmers' land, and what can be done for the farmers. 

Relations and Kurdish Diaspora Committee condemns attack against Kurdistani tourists in Turkish city of Trabzon

We the Kurdistan Parliament’s Committee for Relations and the Kurdish Diaspora condemn the racist attack by people in the town of Trabzon against tourists from Kurdistan. We call on the authorities who detained the tourists to release them immediately.

Committee on Peshmerga, Interior, Security & Local Councils elect Reving Heruri (KDP) as new chair

On 7th July the Committee on Peshmerga, the Interior, Security and Local Councils elected Reving Heruri (KDP) as their new chair. At the meeting the previous chair Abdullah Haji Mahmud (Sardam, Socialist Democratic Party) resigned and Mr. Heruri was elected by a majority vote of the committee members.

Summary of committees’ recent meetings – 4th July 2019

The Finance and Economic Affairs Committee discussed several issues in the spring term, planned their future work and made several decisions. They decided to ask their advisors to prepare an objection to the Iraq Financial Administration Law to present to the Federal Court. Kurdistan’s Provincial Councils ask Parliament for legislative amendments

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Vala Fareed on 2nd July chaired a meeting with the leadership of Erbil, Slemani and Duhok provincial councils, who requested amendments to legislation governing their work and terms of office.

Summary of committees’ recent meetings – 3 July 2019

This week the Health Committee met representatives of Erbil's medicines trading companies to gather evidence on the problems in the pharmaceuticals trade, and decided to meet representatives of Slemani and Duhok companies as well. The Integrity Committee will form a subcommittee to follow up on complaints about water smart meter bills.

The Legislative Committee discussed amending the narcotics law in Kurdistan Region, to bring it into line with Iraq's 2017 law that differentiates between drug dealers and users. Integrity Committee and Erbil Governor Nawzad Hadi discuss complaints about smart meter water bills

The chair and vice chair of Parliament’s Integrity Committee on 26 June met Erbil Governor Nawzad Hadi and Deputy Governor Tahir Abdullah to discuss complaints by many members of the public in Erbil about water bills using smart meters.
