On the 38th anniversary of the disappearance and killing of the Barzanis from the forced resettlement camps in Qushtapa, Harir and Soran, we honour and pray for their pure souls and we never forget this tragedy.

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq announced the end of the current spring session of Parliament, and the start of a one-month Parliament recess. The summer recess is usually two months long, from the start of July to the end of August, but this year the recess was delayed and the spring session was extended by a month until 31 July.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami congratulated Consul General Palladino on his posting in Kurdistan Region and wished him success. He said, "The Kurdistan Region and Kurdistan Parliament appreciate our historic partnership and friendship with the United States, and the United States’ support for the people of Kurdistan at many stages."

Deputy Speaker Hawrami explained the political and legislative efforts to draft the Kurdistan Constitution, and Kurdistan Parliament’s resolve that Kurdistan Region should have its own Constitution and that within it the rights of the ethnic and religious components be protected.

"The view of all of the blocs and committees in Kurdistan Parliament is that the PKK only creates pretexts for regional countries’ forces to occupy Kurdistan Region’s territory, establish military bases and undermine Kurdistan Region's sovereignty and constitutional status."

On the holy celebration of the Feast of the Sacrifice (Jezhni Qurban, Eid Al-Adha), I convey my best wishes to all Muslims around the world and especially to Muslims in Kurdistan, and I hope that this blessed Eid brings you great peace and joy.

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 8 July presided over a sitting in which MPs passed the first amendments to the Law on Rights and Privileges of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs, with 81 votes. MPs also passed two other bills. 

Kurdistan Parliament on 6 July held a sitting for the second reading of three bills, including first amendments to the Law on Rights of Persons with Disabilities. MPs also voted in favour of the first amendments to the Law on Ownership of Illegally Taken or Used Land in Municipalities.

Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 7 July welcomed Bashar Matti Warda, Chaldean Catholic Archbishop of Erbil; Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Mosul; Npnail Nizar Saman, of the Syriac Catholic Church; and Abris Youkhana, Bishop of the Assyrian Church of the East in Erbil.
