Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 20 September sent this congratulatory message to the Kurdistan Islamic Scholars Union on their golden jubilee:

Deputy Speaker Hawrami briefed Ambassador Calonge on Parliament’s recently passed legislation and latest bills, and on MPs’ scrutiny of the Government’s policies. He explained the seats in Parliament reserved for Christian, Armenian and Turkmen parties, to legally ensure their political participation and representation.

Parliament sits to debate prison conditions, question government minister

The Kurdistan Parliament on 16 September sat to debate prison conditions and inmates' rights and welfare. MPs heard the Parliament committee’s report on inmates in Kurdistan Region, and heard from the KRG minister the measures being taken to improve prison conditions.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami meets with Deputy Governor of Mosul Sirwan Rozhbayani

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 14 September welcomed the Deputy Governor of Mosul, Sirwan Rozhbayani. They discussed the threats to civilians from ISIS and the need to rebuild the town of Shengal so that civilians can return to their homes and lands. 

Deputy Speaker Hawrami bids farewell to Jordan's Consul General Haitham Abu Alfoul

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 8 September met with Jordan's outgoing Consul General, Dr. Haitham Abu Alfoul, and thanked him for his contribution to strengthening Jordan's relations with Kurdistan Region. Consul General Abu Alfoul said, "Jordan has always been a friend of the people of Kurdistan and we will continue to strengthen our relationship."

Kurdistan Parliament unveils portrait of Mother Aisha

A portrait of the late Mother Aisha, who passed away in July, was unveiled in the Kurdistan Parliament building on 2 September by Speaker Rewas Faiq. Mother Aisha became a national symbol of Kurds’ sacrifices after losing her three Peshmerga sons killed on the same day in the war against ISIS in 2014.

Order of business for sitting of 2 September 2020, opening of Autumn Session

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament calls MPs to a sitting on Wednesday 2nd September 2020 at 1pm – the first ordinary sitting of the autumn session of the second year of the Parliament’s fifth term. The Presidency announces the order of business of the sitting as follows:

Parliament’s Presidency announces end of spring term of Parliament

Per Resolution number 6 of 2020, Kurdistan Parliament’s Presidency announces the end of the spring term of the second year of the fifth term of Parliament on 31 July 2020. From 1 August 2020, Parliament will be in recess.
