In Baghdad Deputy Speaker Hawrami and MPs meet Iran, Jordan and Kuwait parliamentarians

During their visit to Baghdad, Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and a cross-party group of MPs met with MPs from the parliaments of Iran, Jordan and Kuwait. It was a great opportunity for the Kurdistan Parliament to explore developing closer relations with their parliaments.

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and MPs on 4 September in Baghdad met with Ms. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the UN Secretary General's Special Representative and Head of UNAMI. They raised concerns about items of Iraqi legislation that violate Kurdistan's constitutional rights, as well as the right of IDPs to vote.

The Kurdistan Parliament delegation in Baghdad headed by Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 3 September met with the Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), Dr. Mohammad Reza Majidi.

Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 3 September led a Kurdistan Parliament delegation to Baghdad. Mr. Hawrami and the cross-party group of MPs will meet Kurdistani parties in the Iraqi Council of Representatives to strengthen their coordination on Iraqi legislation that affects Kurdistan. They are also taking part in a meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly's budget and planning committee.

Speaker Rewas Faiq: Parliament should create the right legislative environment to achieve government’s reform and services agenda

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 1st September set out the Parliament Presidency’s vision for the autumn session. She said the priority this autumn is to work on at least 14 bills to help deliver the government’s reform and services agenda. The heads of each parliamentary party also presented their legislative priorities. The majority said the first tasks should be reform legislation and the Kurdistan Constitution.

Parliament's Presidency meet KDP Political Bureau members

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 28th August met with Mr. Faisal Mirani, Secretary of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) political bureau and several of its members. Speaker Faiq was accompanied by Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and Secretary Muna Kahveci. Parliament's Presidency will meet with the leaderships of other political parties in the near future, as part of their efforts to strengthen Parliament’s relations with all the main political organisations in Kurdistan Region.
