Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 4 November received Mr. Galip Dalay, a researcher at the Brookings Insitution's Doha Centre, and Ms. Mariya Petkova, Deputy Editor at Al Jazeera English. They discussed the latest political developments in Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the Middle East.
Parliament passes Law on Ownership of Illegally Used Land in Kurdistan Region’s Municipalities
MPs on 30 October voted in a law gthat allows people who illegally used or built on land in Kurdistan Region's municipalities to buy the land from the government and register it in their names. 100 MPs voted in favour of the bill as a whole, out of 111 members. At the sitting two other bills had their first readings, and Speaker Rewas Faiq asked the relevant committees to work on them: a bill on patients’ rights and responsibilities; and a bill on commercial advertising.
Deputy Speaker Hawrami chairs meeting to organize four new Parliament committees
Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 24 October chaired a meeting to discuss the creation of four new Parliament committees. MPs voted on 29 September to increase the number of committees from 15 to 19, so that MPs can be more focused in their committee work and aims. The membership of the committees continues to be based on the number of seats that each party own in the last general election.

Parliament’s Presidency and Legislative Committee meet with Kurdistan Region Consultative Council
Parliament's Presidency, the Legislative Committee and the Shura Council agreed on the need for cooperation. Parliament’s Presidency asked the Shura Council to coordinate with the Kurdistan Parliament in general and the Legal Affairs Committee, in particular to address the challenges related to amending legislation.

The Deputy Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Hemin Hawrami on 21 October welcomed Ms. Antonella Caruso from the Los Angeles Institute for International Dialogue (LAMEDINA), a newly established NGO in the US. They discussed the rights and protection of Kurdistan's religious and ethnic communities, and recognition of the Yazidi genocide.

Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 16 October welcomed Ms. Ashley Durec, Head of Canada’s Embassy Office in Erbil. They discussed the need for the war in Rojava to stop immediately and the problems to be resolved through dialogue. They also discussed the talks between Baghdad and Erbil to reach an agreement on outstanding issues.
