Deputy Speaker Hawrami meets with heads of standing committees
Deputy Speaker, Heman Hawrami on 15 September chaired a meeting of the heads of the Parliamentary standing committees. The Deputy Speaker briefed them on Kurdistan Parliament’s meeting in Baghdad with the Second Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives (ICOR), Dr. Bashir Haddad, and ICOR MPs in the Kurdistani parliamentary blocs, which was held to strengthen bilateral parliament relations.

In a phone call on 14 September, Parliament's Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami congratulated Mr. Omar Said Ali on his reelection as Gorran's (Change Movement) General Coordinator. Mr. Hawrami wished Mr. Ali continued success in his work. They agreed on increasing cooperation between political parties to provide more services to the public, supporting the legislative process and carrying out reforms in Kurdistan Region.

Kurdistan Parliament’s Presidency meet with Kurdistan Communist Party
Dr. Kawa Mahmoud Secretary of the Kurdistan Communist Party commended Parliament’s presidency for reaching out to all parties and said such steps are important. He said that the KCP give their full support to the Kurdistan Parliament on drafting a Constitution and agree on unifying all political forces around facing the challenges. The nation’s interests must come before party interests, he said.

Kurdistan Parliament MPs on 12 September were briefed by senior KRG officials on the KRG's plan to participate in preparing a draft of Iraq’s 2020 federal budget with Iraq's Ministry of Finance. They also discussed other critical issues for the Kurdistan Region. The meeting was chaired by Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami.

Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami, Secretary Muna Kahveci and several MPs today met with Dr. Arian A. Aamir, UNAMI’s Director of Electoral Assistance and Principal Electoral Adviser, to protest against Iraq’s provincial election law. Deputy Speaker Hawrami said, “The Iraqi provincial elections scheduled for April 2020 will not be free and fair if this law stands. Unlike the last election, IDPs will be prevented from voting outside their provinces.”
