Kurdistan Region delegation’s meetings on third day of Munich Security Conference

The Kurdistan Region delegation at the Munich Security Conference, headed by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and accompanied by Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami, on 16 February met with the foreign ministers of France, Germany, Jordan, Turkey, Iran and Iraq, Canada’s Defence Minister, the UK’s National Security Adviser and other officials.

Parliament committee announce their findings on the death of Majid Brahim

MPs debate financial dues owed to Kurdistan's farmers

The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewas Faiq on 30th January chaired the final sitting of the autumn session, at which MPs debated the financial dues owed to farmers in the Kurdistan Region. Kurdistan Parliament Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and MPs on 29 January met with representatives of unemployed graduates from Kirkuk. The graduates’ representatives briefed Mr. Hawrami about their recent peaceful demonstration demanding equal employment opportunities in government institutions.

Parliament Secretary Muna Kahveci meets with Peshmerga commanders

The Secretary of the Kurdistan Parliament Ms. Muna Kahveci on 28 January met with Peshmerga military commanders in Erbil. She described the peaceful religious and ethnic coexistence in Kurdistan as one of the nation’s positive values and achievements that must be protected. 

KRG's negotiating team updates Kurdistan Parliament on talks with Baghdad on 2020 budget and oil

The Kurdistan Parliament held a sitting on 23 January to get an update from the Kurdistan Regional Government’s negotiating team on their talks with Iraqi Federal Government on the 2020 Iraq budget and oil. Dr. Galawesh Obeid Osman (KDP) discussed the need to establish a national counseling centre for children with developmental disorders and chronic conditions.

Parliament passes Law on Reform of Pensions, Salaries, Allowances, Grants and Other Benefits

The Kurdistan Parliament on 16 January passed the Reform Law, with 89 MPs (out of 111 seats) voting in favour of the law. The aim of the Law on Reform of Pensions, Salaries, Allowances, Grants and Other Benefits is to bring fairness to the system of government employees’ and others’ salaries, pensions and benefits. It also aims to reduce waste of government resources and public funds.
