15th June 2019 – The Deputy Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Mr. Hemin Hawrami and several MPs on 13th June spoke at a conference in Duhok on the recovery and return of the Yazidis and Christians in Iraq. Deputy Speaker Hawrami said the Kurdistan Region is a model for Iraq and the Middle East of a peaceful, tolerant society that respects all religions and ethnicities.

Last week Kurdistan Parliament's committees met the family of a patient who died in the operating theatre, discussed bills on patients' rights and consumer rights, met the Federation of Civil Society Organisations to hear their complaints about taxation, and visited the Erbil Court of Investigation.
MPs select Masrour Barzani as new Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government
11th June 2019 – Today Kurdistan Parliament’s MPs nominated and selected Mr. Masrour Masoud Mustafa Barzani to be the next Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government. Eighty-seven MP, out of the 97 who were present, voted to select Mr. Barzani as the new Prime Minister to form a cabinet and lead the country’s executive authority.

6th June 2019 – The Kurdistan Parliament today held the inauguration of the new President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Idris Mustafa Barzani. Parliament Speaker Dr. Vala Fareed presided at the historic ceremony where President Barzani took his oath of office before MPs and hundreds of dignitaries and guests.

MPs elect Nechirvan Idris Mustafa Barzani as President of the Kurdistan Region
28th May 2019 - Today Kurdistan Parliament's MPs elected Nechirvan Idris Mustafa Barzani to the Presidency of the Kurdistan Region. Of the 81 MPs present at today's sitting, 68 MPs voted for him to become the next President of the Region.

15th May 2019 - A brief summary of Parliament committees’ recent meetings and activities: The Culture, Civil Society, Sports and Youth Committee received a letter signed by many authors and publications, to reactivate Law Number 17 of 2012 which protects the rights and work of authors. Parliament passes law to reactivate Kurdistan Region's presidency, opens applications for candidates
The Kurdistan Parliament on Wednesday 8th May passed by a large majority a law to restore the powers and functions of the President of the Kurdistan Region, and to amend the election system for the presidency until a Kurdistan Constitution is enacted in the future. On 12th May, Parliament announced that it will accept applications for candidacy, until 11am on 15th May.
