The Presidency of the Kurdistan Parliament announces the order of business for the sitting of Thursday 30th January 2020 at 11 am – the 17th ordinary sitting of the autumn session of the first year of the Kurdistan Parliament’s fifth term:

Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq welcomes high-level delegation from Germany

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 27 January welcomed two senior members of Germany’s ruling Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union parties: Mr. Markus Grübel, Federal Government Commissioner for Worldwide Religious Freedom; and Mr. Jürgen Hardt, CDU/CSU Foreign Policy Spokesman in the German Federal Parliament.

Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq sends Reform Law to President Nechirvan Barzani for enactment

Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewas Faiq has sent the Reform Law to the President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani.

Parliament passes Law on Reform of Pensions, Salaries, Allowances, Grants and Other Benefits

The Kurdistan Parliament on 16 January passed the Reform Law, with 89 MPs (out of 111 seats) voting in favour of the law. The aim of the Law on Reform of Pensions, Salaries, Allowances, Grants and Other Benefits is to bring fairness to the system of government employees’ and others’ salaries, pensions and benefits. It also aims to reduce waste of government resources and public funds.

Parliament completes second reading of Reform Bill, will vote on 16 January

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 13 January chaired a lengthy sitting late into the night, to complete the second reading of the Reform Bill. 

Parliament passes Anti-Narcotics Law and Resolution on Turkmen National Days, begins second reading of Reform Bill

MPs of the Kurdistan Parliament on 12 January passed the Law on Narcotics and the Dealers and Users of Narcotics, and the Resolution on Turkmen National Days in Kurdistan Region. They also debated the Reform Bill for over seven hours, and decided to continue the Bill's second reading on 13 January.
