9 January - The Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament Dr. Rewas Faiq calls MPs to an ordinary sitting on Sunday 12th January at 11am.

Statement by the three presidencies of Kurdistan Region

Kurdistan Region’s three highest authorities, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, Speaker of Parliament Dr. Rewas Faiq, KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 8 January met to discuss recent events in Kurdistan and Iraq.

Statement on meeting of Kurdistan Region’s three presidencies and political parties

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on 8 January chaired a meeting of Kurdistan’s three presidencies and political parties, which was attended by Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq, Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami, KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and leaders of Kurdistan’s political parties. They issued the following statement following the meeting.

Speaker Dr Rewas Faiq wishes Kurdistan and the world a Happy New Year

I wish the people of Kurdistan and people around the world a Happy New Year. I hope for peace, a resolution to crises and a restoration of the people’s faith and confidence in the political authorities, so that together we can work for meaningful progress and make a visible difference.

Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq congratulates Salahaddin Bahadin on reelection as Secretary General of Kurdistan Islamic Union

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq congratulated the Kurdistan Islamic Union party on 29 December on holding their 8th Congress, and congratulated Salahaddin Bahadin on his reelection as the party’s Secretary General.

The Speaker briefed Mr. Fagin on current Baghdad-Erbil relations and said, “Iraq is going through a critical stage, particularly with regards to who will become the new Prime Minister, and it has become a matter of debate among most political forces.”

Speaker and Deputy Speaker support search for missing persons of Halabja

Speaker Faiq, Deputy Speaker Hawrami and MPs from the Martyrs’ Affairs, Genocide and Political Prisoners Committee welcomed Mr. Khalil Muhammad Salih, one of persons who went missing as a child in the aftermath of the Halabja chemical bombardment of 1988.
