Parliament’s Presidency reaches out to Christian and Turkmen parties to build national consensus on drafting a Kurdistan Constitution

The Presidency of the Kurdistan Parliament - Speaker Rewas Faiq, Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and Secretary Muna Kahveci - on 15 September visited several Christian and Turkmen political parties: National Union Coalition, Assyrian Syriac Chaldean Popular Council,(ASCPC), Assyrian Democratic Movement (Rafidain Party) and the Turkmen Reform Party.

Parliament Speaker welcomes Kurdistan Lawyers Syndicate

Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiaq on 12 September welcomed members of the Kurdistan Lawyers’ Syndicate. She said that the Iraqi Council of Representatives (COR) has violated many laws and several articles of the Iraqi Constitution, by passing legislation that harm the people of Kurdistan and Kurdistan Region.

Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq congratulates Omar Said Ali on reelection as Gorran's General Coordinator

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq congratulated Mr. Omar Said Ali on his reelection as Gorran's (Change Movement) General Coordinator and also congratulated the party’s Executive Body. In her letter, Dr. Faiq said she hopes that this election heralds stronger relations between Gorran and all the political parties to work for Kurdistan's national goals and serving the public. She wished Mr. Ali continued success in his work. 

Kurdistan Parliament’s Presidency meet with Kurdistan Islamic Group

Kurdistan Parliament’s Presidency on 11 September visited the Kurdistan Islamic Group (KIG) and met with its leader Mr. Ali Bapir to discuss having a unified stance on critical issues in the national interest and on drafting a Kurdistan Constitution.

Kurdistan Parliament’s Presidency meet with Kurdistan Communist Party

Dr. Kawa Mahmoud Secretary of the Kurdistan Communist Party commended Parliament’s presidency for reaching out to all parties and said such steps are important. He said that the KCP give their full support to the Kurdistan Parliament on drafting a Constitution and agree on unifying all political forces around facing the challenges. The nation’s interests must come before party interests, he said.     

Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq meets Greece’s Consul General Efthymios Costopoulos

Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 11 September met Greece’s Consul General in Kurdistan Region Efthymios Costopoulos. They discussed the Kurdistan Parliament’s priorities, including achieving national consensus on drafting a Kurdistan Constitution, carrying out reforms and the unification of the Peshmerga forces.

Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq meets Hungary’s Chargé D’affaires Miklos Szabo

The Speaker briefed Mr. Szabo on the Parliament Presidency’s mission to achieve consensus between the political parties on national issues and to carry out reforms in government institutions. Dr. Faiq thanked Hungary for their support to the Peshmerga forces in the fight against ISIS and hoped that Hungary will continue to support Kurdistan Region.

Kurdistani MPs of Iraqi Parliament and Kurdistan Parliament to coordinate on Iraqi legislation that affects Kurdistan

On 8 September Kurdistan Parliament’s Presidency and MPs met with Kurdistani MPs of Iraq’s Council of Representatives (ICR), to discuss how to coordinate on Iraqi legislation that affects the people of Kurdistan and the KRG.
