MPs with 80 votes extend the current term of Parliament, complete second reading of Bill on Education and Training

The Kurdistan Parliament on 9 October 2022 voted to extend the current term of Parliament for another year, until late-2023, with 80 MPs voting in favour. Parliament also completed the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training.

Parliament holds second reading of Legislative Proposal to extend its current term, second reading of articles 156 to 166 of Bill on Education and Training

The Kurdistan Parliament on 6 October 2022 held the second reading of the legislative proposal to extend the current term of Parliament for another year, until late-2023. MPs also continued the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training, reading articles 156 to 166.

The Kurdistan Parliament on 5 October 2022 held the first reading of the legislative proposal to extend the current term of Parliament for another year, until late-2023. MPs also continued the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training, reading articles 81 to 154 on quality assurance, inspections and exams, as well as the provisions on private schools.

The Kurdistan Parliament on 4 October 2022 continued the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training, reading articles 61 to 80 on school principals, teachers and other employees, staff councils and school committees.  

Parliament reads articles 38 to 60 of Bill on Education and Training; expresses condolences for death of five Peshmerga in road traffic accident

At Kurdistan Parliament’s sitting of 2 October 2022, Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on behalf of Parliament expressed condolences for the tragic death of five Peshmerga soldiers in a road traffic accident in the southeast of Slemani governorate. MPs continued the second reading of the Bill on Education and Training, reading articles 38 to 60.

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 2 October 2022 met with Senator Christian Cambon, the Chair of the French Senate’s Foreign Relations, Defense and Armed Forces Committee. They discussed civil liberties and human rights, strengthening parliamentary relations and their two nations' historic ties.

Kurdistan Parliament condemns Iran's bombings and attacks on several areas of Kurdistan Region

At Kurdistan Parliament’s sitting of 29 September 2022, on behalf of Parliament the Deputy Speaker Dr. Hemin Hawrami condemned the missile and suicide drone attacks by the IRGC on 28 September on several areas of Kurdistan Region, which killed and injured civilians.
