Christian and Turkmen parties' MPs meet with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani

Kurdistan Parliament MPs and government ministers from Christian and Turkmen parties on 17 May met with the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani. Everyone at the meeting stressed that ethnic and religious component's important role and place in Kurdistan's politics and administration must be protected.

Parliament votes on lifting immunity of four MPs; holds second reading on extending deadline for legislative proposals

The Kurdistan Parliament on 7 May held the second reading of a draft resolution to exceptionally extend the period that MPs can submit legislative proposals, due to the delay caused by the Coronavirus outbreak. They also voted on lifting the parliamentary immunity of four MPs who have been summoned by courts in various lawsuits.

Ministers explain strategies to mitigate impact of Coronavirus on school and university students

At the first Parliament sitting since the Coronavirus lockdown, MPs held the first reading of a draft resolution on extending the period that MPs can submit legislative proposals. Parliament and KRG’s Baghdad negotiating team discuss Iraq’s decision to halt Kurdistan’s share of budget

Kurdistan Parliament MPs, led by Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami, on 26 April met with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s delegation for negotiations with the Iraqi Federal Government. The negotiating team described the talks with Baghdad since late 2019 and Iraq's recent decision to completely halt Kurdistan's share of the budget.

Parliament’s Presidency thanks Kurdistan Regional Government and public for response to Coronavirus outbreak

Kurdistan, the region, and the world are now in dire straits against the deadly Corona virus and in the face of its human and economic consequences. Since the outbreak of the disease in Kurdistan Region, the Kurdistan Parliament has been working through special committees and in cooperation with government agencies to tackle the contagious disease.
