Parliament and KRG discuss Kurdistan Region's rights and responsibilities in Iraq 2021 Budget Law

Peshmerga Committee meets with Kurdistan Region Vice President Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa and Presidency's Chief of Staff Karim Sinjari

Kurdistan Parliament’s Peshmerga Affairs Committee on 6 April met with Kurdistan Region Vice President Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa and the Presidency's Chief of Staff Karim Sinjari. They discussed legislation on the Peshmerga and many issues that need to be resolved to strengthen the Peshmerga and create a fairer system for the soldiers.

Committees' recent meetings - 6 April 2021

Political parties' women's organizations complained about a MP's derogatory use of the term 'feminine' at the last sitting. The Relations Committee hopes to hold a conference on the challenges facing Kurdistan Region from international developments.

Parliament passes Law on Protection of Local Products; votes to exclude Dr. Kazim Faruq from sittings until he apologizes for showing disrespect

Kurdistan Parliament on 31 March passed the Law on Protection of Local Products with 73 votes, held first readings of the Bill on the Electricity Ministry and the Second Amendments to the Law on the General Integrity Commission, and completed the second reading of the Bill on Conservation of Water Networks. MPs voted to exclude MP Dr. Kazim Faruq (New Generation) from sittings until he apologizes for disrespecting Parliament.

Committees' recent meetings - 30 March 2021

Committees are working on amending the Pharmacists Syndicate Law, designating a Kurdistan Journalism Day, and a water management and conservation bill. They discussed the impact of the latest Coronavirus situation on schools and higher education.
