Order of business for Kurdistan Parliament sitting of 27 July 2020

The Deputy Speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament calls MPs to a sitting on Monday 27th July 2020 at 11am – the 6th ordinary sitting of the spring session of the second year of the Kurdistan Parliament’s fifth term, and the Presidency of Parliament announces the order of business of the sitting as follows:

Kurdistan Parliament publishes official English translation of the Reform Law - Law No. 2 of 2020

The Kurdistan Parliament today 7 July 2020 publishes the official English translation of the Law on Reform of Salaries, Allowances, Grants, Privileges & Retirement - Law No. 2 of 2020.

MPs raise pressing financial, health and security issues at sitting; vote to extend spring session until 1 August

Kurdistan Parliament MPs on 29 June voted to extend by 30 days the deadline for submitting their legislative proposals, and to extend the current spring session by a month, to end on 1 August. The purpose is to compensate for the delays caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. Sixty MPs voted in favour of the deadline extension, and 70 voted in favour extending the spring session.

The Committee on Kurdistani Areas outside the KRG Administrative Area discussed the crime of deliberately setting on fire Kurdish farmers' production. The Legislative Committee prepared their final report on the draft resolution to exceptionally extend the deadline for MPs to submit legislative proposals, to compensate for the delays caused by Coronavirus.

Parliament votes on lifting immunity of four MPs; holds second reading on extending deadline for legislative proposals

The Kurdistan Parliament on 7 May held the second reading of a draft resolution to exceptionally extend the period that MPs can submit legislative proposals, due to the delay caused by the Coronavirus outbreak. They also voted on lifting the parliamentary immunity of four MPs who have been summoned by courts in various lawsuits.

At the first Parliament sitting since the Coronavirus lockdown, MPs held the first reading of a draft resolution on extending the period that MPs can submit legislative proposals. The KRG Education and Higher Education ministers answered questions about how they are addressing the fallout from the pandemic on the current academic year.

MPs pass the Law on Combating Smuggling of Oil and Oil Products in Kurdistan Region

Kurdistan Parliament MPs on 4 March voted to pass the Law on Combating Smuggling of Oil and Oil Products in Kurdistan Region. Eighty eight MPs voted in favour of the law.

Speaker Faiq opens spring session of Parliament, MPs hold second reading of anti-oil smuggling bill

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 1 March opened the spring session of Parliament by setting out recent legislative achievements and future priorities. She then presided over the second reading of the Bill on Combating Smuggling of Oil and Oil Products in Kurdistan Region.
