Our responsibility in the Kurdistan Parliament is to provide opportunities for the government, women’s rights organizations and other relevant authorities to propose laws and resolutions to support their work. With this aim, the Kurdistan Parliament on 23 November held the first reading of the legislative proposal on Combating Domestic Violence and Violence Against Women in the Kurdistan Region.

Parliament holds second reading of Bill on Private Security Companies
The Kurdistan Parliament on 24 November 2021 held the second reading of the Bill on Private Security Companies, in the presence of the KRG Minister for the Interior Rebar Ahmed, and Minister for Region for Parliament Affairs Dr. Vala Fareed.
Parliament amends Law on Missing and Disappeared to include the disappeared through ISIS’s crimes
The Kurdistan Parliament on 23 November 2021 passed amendments to the Law on the Missing and Disappeared, to include those who disappeared through ISIS’s crimes. MPs also held the first reading of three bills. Parliament marked the 10-year commemoration of the death of France’s First Lady Danielle Mitterand, a champion of the Kurdish cause.

Committees' recent meetings - 7 November 2021
Committees raised with the KRG high school graduates' complaints about the university admissions process, raised many issues with the Health Minister, discussed preparing a bill on combating violence against women, and worked on several bills ahead of readings.
