Committees' recent meetings - 14 November 2020
Committees met with the Peshmerga's 70th brigade in Slemani and stressed the need to incorporate all Peshmerga forces into the Ministry; and discussed with NGOs how the Law on the Rights and Privileges of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs should be amended.
Eighty-one MPs vote to end interpellation of KRG PM, Deputy PM and Finance Minister, reject call for motion of no confidence
The Kurdistan Parliament on 27 October sat for first readings of two bills on water, and MPs in the opposition further questioned in absentia the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister on cuts to government employees’ salaries. The opposition MPs’ bid to move to a motion of no confidence was rejected, with 81 of 91 present MPs voting that they were convinced by the Government’s answers and to end the questioning.

MPs question Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister on key economic, political and reform issues
Kurdistan Parliament MPs on 5 October questioned Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and Finance Minister Awat Sheikh Janab in a lengthy sitting on the state of the region and the government’s policies. The KRG premier and his colleagues presented to MPs on the state of the economy, reforms, negotiations with Baghdad, combating the Coronavirus pandemic, and the situation in the Kurdistani areas outside the KRG administrative area. Mr. Barzani said that soon the Council of Ministers will give Parliament a detailed report on the progress made in implementing the Reform Law.

Committees met with KRG ministers to work on the Bill on the Sale and Lease of Public Assets. Committees also discussed the next Iraqi elections, Parliament's administrative management, reforms in the Peshmerga Ministry, and a sand quarry built on the Sirwan River.
MPs pass Bill on Responsibility of Government Employees with 71 votes; Speaker says PM and Deputy PM will answer questions in Parliament
Kurdistan Parliament MPs on 29 September passed the Bill on Responsibility of Government Employees. Seventy-one MPs voted in favour of the bill. Parliament has a total of 111 MPs. At the sitting Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq said that in the near future the KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani will answer MPs’ questions in Parliament.
Committees’ recent meetings – 30 September 2020
In recent meetings committees worked on bills on missing children, prevention of international crimes against humanity, import and sale of oil products, and sale and lease of public assets. MPs will meet with the prosecutor's office to ask that conditional release for prisoners be implemented.
