Deputy Speaker Hawrami and Heartland Alliance discuss continued cooperation on Kurdistan Parliament’s work
Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 23 April met Heartland Alliance International, to discuss continued work with the Kurdistan Parliament to share knowledge and expertise.
Heartland Alliance has coordinated previously with Parliament’s research centre on the legislative process and capacity building for MPs and staff. Ms. Mera Eftaiha, Deputy Country Director for Iraq, and her colleagues informed Mr. Hawrami about Heartland Alliance’s work on human rights, justice and mental health support. She suggested how the NGO can support MPs' work by sharing its expertise.
The Deputy Speaker said that the Parliament’s priorities at the start of this fifth term are the presidency bill, reform bills, a Kurdistan Constitution, and working on health and education improvements for all citizens of the Kurdistan Region.
Heartland Alliance is a US NGO; in Iraq it works on human rights, social justice, and gender equality.
