Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami meets Mr Burhan Kayaturk, former MP of Turkey’s National Assembly

29 April - Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami yesterday met Mr. Burhan Kayaturk, former MP for Van in Turkey’s Grand National Assembly. Mr Hawrami and Mr Kayaturk discussed ways of strengthening relations between their respective countries’ parliaments.

Mr. Kayaturk  said that he was very pleased to visit the Kurdistan Region, and said that he welcomed practical steps to achieve closer ties between the two parliaments.

Deputy Speaker Hawrami briefed Mr. Kayaturk on the Kurdistan Parliament’s recent legislative business and said that the new Kurdistan Region Government cabinet will be formed in the near future, since the main parties are very close to reaching consensus. 

Mr. Hawrami said that Kurdistan Region’s relationship with Turkey is important in all areas, as its neighbour and key trading partner.
