Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami welcomes Ambassador Peter Galbraith

30th April 2019 - Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami today welcomed Ambassador Peter W Galbraith, a long-time friend and advocate for the people of Kurdistan. 

The Kurdistan Parliament's Deputy Speaker briefed Ambassador Galbraith on parliament's priorities for this fifth term: The amendments to the Kurdistan Region Presidency law; legislation on reforms; scrutiny of key public services such as health; and continuing to draft a Kurdistan Region constitution.  

Ambassador Galbraith said he hoped to see the KRG cabinet formed soon and for the Kurdistan Parliament to carry out its important legislative programme. 

Mr. Hawrami and Mr. Rebwar Babkaye MP, Head of Parliament's Relations and Kurdish Diaspora Committee, said that they would like to strengthen parliament's relations with the US Congress, where Ambassador Galbraith was the Senator for Vermont State from 2011 to 2015.
