Parliament Speaker and Secretary participate in Kurdistan Parliamentarians’ Union conference

6 April 2019 - Parliament Speaker Dr. Vala Farid and Parliament Secretary Muna Kahveci attended the Kurdistan Parliamentarians’ Union’s Third Conference in Erbil. Dr. Farid told the participants that the conference heralded a good start to reactivating the important work of the union.

Many current and former MPs from the Kurdistan Parliament and from the Iraqi Council of Representatives participated. Dr. Farid commended the union for supporting the Kurdistan Parliament’s tasks of law-making and scrutinizing the government. She encouraged current MPs to benefit from the expertise and experience of the unions’ members. The independent union was established by law in 2006/2007 to support and contribute to the legislative process, and to carry out research on parliament’s functions. Members are current and former MPs from the Kurdistan Parliament and the Iraqi Council of Representatives.
