Parliament Speaker Dr. Faiq: Parliament should harmonize legislative policy with government’s reform and services agenda

Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 21 August held a meeting with the Legislative Committee to discuss 11 bills (draft laws) that were scheduled for their first reading in the autumn session.

After extensive discussions, they decided to hold the first reading of six of the bills in the autumn session, and to direct other bills that have budgetary implications to the Prime Minister’s office. Under Parliament’s internal rules of procedure, bills that have an impact on public finances need special attention and coordination with the government.

The meeting also decided that Parliament’s legislative policy should be consistent with the government’s agenda of reform and better services to the public.

Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and the Secretary Muna Kahwachi also took part in the meeting.
