Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq meets Poland's Undersecretary of State for Middle East Maciej Lang
Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 30th July met Poland’s Undersecretary of State Maciej Lang and his delegation. Dr. Faiq asked the delegation to help strengthen ties between their respective parliaments and encourage investors to Kurdistan Region.
Mr Lang, Poland's Undersecretary of State for Security, Asia, the Americas, Africa and Middle East Policy, was accompanied by the Ambassador to Iraq Beata Pęksa and the Consul in Erbil, Dominik Musiał.
The delegation congratulated Dr Faiq on her election as Speaker and were happy see a woman at the highest level of leadership. They also commended the Kurdistan Region for its broad representation of all of Kurdistan’s communities in Parliament, and for its democratic progress.
Minister Lang said that Poland hopes to strengthen relations with Kurdistan Region and to encourage Polish companies to invest in Kurdistan. Speaker Faiq said that strengthening with Poland, especially parliamentary relations, is very important to Kurdistan and she urged allies to support Kurdistan’s legitimate rights and goals.
Minister Lang that despite the pressure of security and economic crises, Kurdistan provided a safe haven for IDPs and refugees. Speaker Faiq said, “We are proud of welcoming and protecting IDPs and refugees. We thank the international coalition for their support, including their support for our Peshmerga forces in the war against ISIS.”
Parliament Secretary Ms. Muna Kahveci and several MPs from different parties also attended the meeting.
