Parliament's Presidency and standing committees discuss preparations for the autumn session

Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 26 August held a meeting with the Parliament’s standing committees to discuss their work and preparations for the autumn session. She said that Parliament’s legislative policy should be consistent with the government’s programme of reform and better services for the people of Kurdistan.

The chairs, vice chairs and rapporteurs of the standing committees attended the meeting.

Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami discussed the important role of the standing committees in scrutinizing the government’s policies. He also said that the committees need to coordinate with the Iraqi Parliament’s Kurdish blocs to be up to date on bills going through the Iraqi Parliament that affect Kurdistan.

Parliament’s Presidency stressed that the standing committees should fulfill their responsibilities of preparing bills, meeting with the different institutions of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and calling officials to Parliament to discuss relevant issues.
