A summary of recent Kurdistan Parliament committees' meetings and activities:
Health Committee, KRG Ministry of Health and Pharmacists Syndicate officials discuss amendments to law
8 December - The committee chair Dr. Sabah Zebari and members met with officials from the KRG Ministry of Health and representatives of the Kurdistan Pharmacists Syndicate, to discuss amending the Kurdistan Pharmacists Syndicate Law.
The Health Ministry and syndicate officials submitted their proposals for the amendments to the committee, to be discussed at future Parliament sittings.
Endowments and Religious Affairs Committee meet with KRG Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs
9 December – MPs from the committee received the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, Mr. Pshtiwan Sadiq. They discussed religious affairs, and the Minister briefed the MPs on the Ministry’s policies and responsibilities.
Minister Sadiq said that he hopes to work more closely with the Parliament committee in future. Both sides stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence of different religions in Kurdistan Region.
Relations and Kurdish Diaspora Committee and KDP's Greece Representative discuss plight of Kurds in detention centres
9 December - The committee met with Dr. Serbast Muhammad Zaxoyi, the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s representative in Greece, to learn more about the problems facing Kurds who have travelled to Greece to reach north-western Europe, and 100 of whom are being held in detention centres.
Dr. Zaxoyi pledged to provide the committee with information needed to follow up on their cases and help to secure their release.
The committee asked Dr. Zaxoyi for more information on the individuals held in Greek detention centres, so that the MPs are in a better position to follow up on the cases and help them.
