Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq welcomes Canada's new Ambassador Ulric Shannon

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 18 December welcomed Canada's new envoy to Iraq, Ambassador Ulric Shannon, accompanied by Ms. Ashley Durec the Head of the Canada Office in Erbil.

Speaker Faiq and Ambassador Shannon discussed the current political situation and developments in Iraq and the wider region.

The Speaker said that she the diplomatic and international community appreciate Kurdistan Region's culture of tolerance and its good security. She also commented on the refugees and IDPs in Kurdistan, saying that all refugees and IDPs are supported and treated equally, without discrimination against their ethnicity, religion or language.

Ambassador Shannon thanked Speaker Faiq for their detailed discussions and wishes her success in her position.
