Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq meets World Health Organization officials

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewas Faiq on 17th July met Dr. Ahmad Al Mandhari, the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, and Dr. Adham Ismail, the acting WHO Representative in Iraq. Several MPs of parliament’s health committee also participated in the meeting.

Speaker Faiq welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the status of healthcare services in Kurdistan Region. She said that the health committee is working on drafting bills for Kurdistan's health sector. 

Now that the new KRG cabinet has been formed, Parliament will monitor and coordinate with the KRG to improve health services, provide a suitable, modern healthcare system for the public, and to establish a health insurance system for the people of Kurdistan, Dr. Faiq said. She asked WHO to assist the MPs of parliament’s heath committee in their work.

The delegation said that they are ready to work with parliament’s health committee to support the development of Kurdistan Region’s health sector.
