Summary of committees’ recent meetings – 3 July 2019
A brief summary of Kurdistan Parliament’s committees’ recent meetings and activities:
Integrity, Parliament Affairs and Complaints Committee
2 July - The committee held their regular weekly meeting headed by the committee chair, Ms. Shirin Amin (Gorran). They discussed the notes, requests, and complaints submitted to the committee, and decided to follow up on the all submissions as soon as possible. They also discussed the committee’s recent meeting with Erbil Governor Nawzad Hadi and Deputy Governor Tahir Abdullah at Erbil Governorate offices, regarding complaints from the public about water bills after the installation of smart water meters. The committee decided to form a subcommittee to follow up on and resolve the issue.
Health, Environment and Consumer Rights Committee
2 July - The committee’s Subcommittee on Pharmaceuticals held a meeting headed by subcommittee chair, Mr. Zana Mala Khalid (KDP). The subcommittee met with representatives of pharmaceuticals traders in Erbil, and Mr. Khalid asked them to brief the committee on the import, storage and pricing of medicines.
The subcommittee decided to have similar meetings with pharmaceuticals companies in Slemani and Duhok. They plan to compile all their findings into a report for discussion with the Ministry of Health, to work on solutions to the problems in pharmaceuticals.
