Presidency of Kurdistan Parliament wishes Muslims Happy Eid & issues statement on 27th anniversary of first Parliament sitting
On the occasion of the Eid of Ramadan, which this year coincides with the 27th anniversary of the Kurdistan Parliament’s first sitting on 4th June 1992, the Presidency of Parliament send our best wishes to Muslims in Kurdistan, Iraq and around the world. We hope that this Eid brings joy to all.
One of the most beautiful features of Eid is conciliation and forgiveness, qualities which are even more necessary today. We ask all the political parties and entities who are part of the ninth Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet to embrace compromise and understanding, so that they can quickly begin serving the people of Kurdistan.
June 4th 1992 marks the first ever sitting of Parliament, a parliament established by the popular vote of the majority of the people of the Kurdistan Region and through the unity of political groups. We give our best wishes to the families of Kurdistan’s martyrs, who gave their lives to protect Kurdistan from enemies and terrorists. We also congratulate all the people of Kurdistan on this anniversary and hope that this occasion is an opportunity to reaffirm the pillars of our democratic system and civil society in the Kurdistan Region.
