Gallery: Kurdistan Parliament hosts Memories of Sand art exhibition by Ali Raza
The Kurdistan Parliament from 10th April hosted a three-week exhibition of art by Ali Raza, called Memory of the Sand.
Mr. Raza says, "My perspective is a constant call for peace and rights...My perspective is one of abject wonder regarding how people can destroy each other, themselves and nature. I believe we can all live in peace."
Mr. Raza’s art work visualizes the traumatic memory of clothings and belongings of Kurdish victims of the Anfal Genocide of 1987-1988. He hopes that the Genocide is not forgotten by the younger generations.
Parliament's Presidency and MPs were given a tour of the exhibits by Mr. Raza. Many visitors to Parliament had the opportunity to see the art works which were displayed in the main entrance hall of the building. The Kurdistan Parliament hopes to host more exhibitions in the future. Click on an image above to enlarge the gallery.
