Head of Kurdistan's mine clearance agency asks for equal rights for demining personnel

Parliament's Presidency on 19th May met Mr. Siraj Barzani, the Head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Mine Action Agency. Mr. Barzani submitted a request to the Presidency to give equal rights to Kurdistan’s mine clearance personnel through legislation.

Dr. Vala Fareed, Speaker of Parliament, and Hemin Hawrami, Deputy Speaker, were briefed by Mr. Barzani on the work of the mine action agency. Dr. Fareed warmly welcomed the delegation and thanked them for their vital work of clearing Kurdistan of mines to protect lives. The Presidency of Parliament said that parliament would study the request carefully.
