Parliament committee releases statement on premeditated attacks in Khanaqin, Dibis and Sargaran

23 May 2019 - The Committee on Kurdistani Areas outside the KRG Administrative Area released the following statement on the security situation in the city of Khanaqin, Dibis district, and villages near the district of Sargaran in Kirkuk Province:

After the premeditated attacks in the city of Khanaqin, the district of Dibis, and villages near the district of Sargaran, our committee, supported by President Masoud Barzani, began investigating the attacks, met the farmers from the areas, and submitted a report on their plight to the relevant authorities. According to an order, the farmers can now return to working on their farmlands.

We are still looking for solutions to their plight, and will do our utmost to resolve it as soon as possible. We gave them a pledge to protect their rights through the rule of law.

We thank the Kurdistani block of MPs in the Iraqi Council of Representatives for their support and cooperation on these cases.
