Summary of committees' recent meetings - 20th May 2019

Energy, Natural Resources, Commerce and Industry Committee

13th May - Met Mr. Omed Ahmad, General Director of electricity distribution for the Kurdistan Region. Discussed electricity distribution methods and schedules. Also discussed the strategic project of implementing smart metering to calculate electricity consumption. Agreed increasing coordination after the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) cabinet in order to scrutinize and find solutions to the problems in the electric power sector.

Relations and Kurdish Diaspora Committee

19th May - Met with a delegation from KRG Department of Foreign Relations, headed by Minister Falah Mustafa. Discussed the Kurdistan Region’s relations with neighbouring countries and with the US, and confirmed good relations with all the countries that have diplomatic missions or representatives in the region. Minister Mustafa informed the committee that the US consulate continues to provide visa services to the Region’s residents and continues to train the Peshmerga forces.
