Committees’ recent meetings – 5 November 2019
A summary of Kurdistan Parliament committees' recent meetings and activities:
Energy, Natural Resources, Commerce and Industry Committee
4 November - The committee held their regular meeting led by the chair Mr. Balen Ismaeel (Change Movement). The meeting reviewed the committee's past work and discussed the notes submitted to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) through the Presidency of the Kurdistan Parliament. The meeting also discussed the bill on quality control in the Kurdistan Region, which consists of 11 articles. The committee decided to meet with the KRG to discuss and prepare a detailed report for submission to the Presidency of Parliament.
Peshmerga, Interior, Security and Local Councils Committee
4 November - The committee led by the chair Mr. Reving Hiruri (KDP) met with the Peshmerga’s Unit 80 and their Commander Najat Ali. They discussed the lives and welfare of Peshmerga forces and their problems and demands. The meeting also focused on the coordination of the KDP and PUK to unite the 70 and 80 units under the umbrella of the Peshmerga Ministry. They discussed reform and transparency of the Peshmerga and separating the Peshmerga as an institution from parties and party politics.
Health, Environment and Consumer Rights Committee
4 November - The meeting led by the chair Dr. Sabah Zebari (KDP) focused on the latest version of the Ministry of Health's healthcare workers bill. The committee decided to submit the bill to the Presidency of Parliament after debate and approval. Mr. Zana Mala Khalid (KDP), chair of the pharmaceuticals subcommittee presented in a report all the information and statistics gathered on medicines and the distribution companies. The committee decided to submit the report to the Presidency of Parliament.
