Deputy Speaker Hawrami: Our Parliament wants strong ties with world’s parliaments

Kurdistan Parliament’s Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami on 19 November participated in a two-day conference by the American University of Kurdistan-Dohuk on Peace and Security in the Middle East.

Kurdistan Regional Government Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, diplomats and academics also participated in the conference. Deputy Speaker Mr. Hawrami highlighted the unstable political situation in the Middle East and its impact on Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The Deputy Speaker said that Kurdistan Parliament’s priorities in this fifth term are pushing for and pursuing reforms in government institutions and public services, drafting the Kurdistan constitution, as well as the general responsibilities of drafting legislation and scrutinizing the government, Mr. Hawrami added that the Kurdistan Parliament wants to have stronger ties with other nations’ parliaments, to boost Kurdistan’s diplomacy and outreach and to learn from the experiences of other legislatures.
