Parliament’s Presidency and Legislative Committee meet with Kurdistan Region Consultative Council

The Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr Rewas Faiq, along with Deputy Speaker Hemin Hawrami and Secretary Muna Kahveci, on 22 October welcomed a delegation from the Kurdistan Region’s Consultative Council (Shura Council), headed by Judge Sardar Yassin. Also at the meeting were the chair, vice chair, rapporteur and members of Parliament’s Legislative Committee.

The MPs and Shura Council members agreed on the need for cooperation, and Parliament’s Presidency asked the Shura Council to coordinate with the Kurdistan Parliament in general and the Legal Affairs Committee, in particular to address the challenges related to amending legislation.

The Kurdistan Region Consultative Council was established by a law enacted in 2008, and gives advice on legal matters. Its decisions are advisory only.
