Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq welcomes Greece’s Ambassador Leonidas Kontovounesios

Kurdistan Parliament Speaker Dr. Rewaz Faiq on 30 September welcomed Ambassador Leonidas Kontovounesios, Greece’s envoy to Iraq. They discussed strengthening economic relations and encouraging investment to develop Kurdistan’s economy.

Speaker Faiq said that Kurdistan Region is an attractive investment destination and is ready to strengthen commercial relations with Greece.  She added that despite its financial problems, Greece commercial experience can be shared with and benefit Kurdistan. Greek companies can invest in tourism in Kurdistan, Dr. Faiq suggested.

Ambassador Kontovounesios said, “We have historic relations with the people of Kurdistan. The good security in Kurdistan is important to us, so we encourage Greek companies to invest in the region.” He said that Greece intends to strengthen bilateral relations with Kurdistan Region in the near future.

The ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Efthymios Costopoulos, Greece’s Consul General to Kurdistan Region.
