Summary of committees’ recent meetings – 28 October 2019
A summary of Kurdistan Parliament committees' recent meetings and activities:
Martyrs’ Affairs, Genocide and Political Prisoners Committee
27 October - The committee led by chair Ms. Sawsan Muhammad Mirkhan (KDP) met with the Kurdistan Regional Government Minister of Education, Alan Hama Saeed. The meeting focused on problems with funding education for the children of martyrs' families.
The committee members also suggested that the subject of the genocide of the Kurds be included in the school curriculum at different stages, so that it is remembered by future generations and not repeated.
Minister Hama Saeed welcomed the committee's suggestions and asked them to work together more closely in the future.
Relations and Kurdish Diaspora Committee
27 October - The committee met with the General Director of Erbil International Airport, Ms. Talar Faiq. They discussed illegal travel through the airport and how to prevent it. The committee also visited various parts of the airport to find out about the airport’s problems, including the residency center and passport control at departures. The committee asked for statistics on deported persons as well as other data relevant to the meeting.
Integrity, Parliamentary Affairs and Complaints Committee
22 October - The committee held their regular meeting led by the chair Ms. Shirin Amin (Change Movement). They reviewed all the complaints and requests sent to them by the public, and made decisions on them. Most of the notes were about corruption and wasting public money. The committee gave detailed replies to some of the requests and complaints, and referred others to the relevant authorities.
