Summary of committees' recent meetings - 8 October 2019
Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research Committee
7 October - The committee welcomed several teachers and professors from Charmo University, a state university in Slemani Governorate. They discussed the Bologna Process higher education system and debated its benefits and drawbacks. The committee decided to visit the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in order to resolve Charmo University’s problems.
The committee also discussed the problems of Nur, Hadba and Kitab private universities opened in Kurdistani areas outside the KRG administrative area and which are not yet recognized by the Kurdistan Regional Government. The committee decided to visit the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to look further into these private universities’ problems.
They also discussed the notes, reports, requests, and complaints sent by the public and replied to them in detail.
Integrity, Parliament Affairs and Complaints Committee
7 October - The committee led by the chair Ms. Shirin Amin (Change Movement) held their regular meeting to discuss the problems at the official borders crossings in Garmian region. The chair briefed the committee members on their visit to the Ibrahim Khalil border crossing with Turkey, and the Bashmag and Parwezkhan border crossings with Iran. The committee decided to send a report on the problems at the borders to Parliament’s Presidency.
The committee also discussed the notes, reports, requests and complaints sent by the public and responded to them in detail.
