Two parliament committees discuss strengthening Kurdistan's media with France's CFI agency

Two committees of the Kurdistan Parliament on 30 September met with CFI, France's public agency that supports the development of media in southern countries, to learn about the agency's work and views.

MPs from the Committee on Social Affairs, Protection of Women’s Rights and Human Rights; and the Culture, Civil Society, Sports and Youth Committee, were at the meeting.

The delegation explained some of CFI's programmes in Kurdistan Region and other parts of Iraq. One of their goals is to help stakeholders who want to promote gender equality through media, and strengthen the role of women in Kurdistan Region’s media institutions.

The MPs expressed their full support for CFI’s projects and asked CFI to continue their discussions with the Kurdistan Parliament.

CFI is a public sector operator, funded mainly by France's Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
